Institute of Management Technology Ghaziabad alumnus Rajesh Sehgal aims to make Caretel Infotech Ltd. one of India’s top five business process outsourcing agencies within two years.

He’s certainly in the position to do so, currently working as CEO of Caretel Infotech, a Dalmia group company and a top-end domestic BPO, which he said has seen double-digit growth in last seven years.

“We already are serving blue-chip clients and doing a big number of E-governance projects.”

His role is to provide leadership for the growth of the company, ensuring it meets revenue and people targets while keeping customers happy.

A graduate of the 1999-2000 batch, Sehgal said a quest for knowledge and personal growth led him to the IMT-Ghaziabad PGDM Executive programme.

He was working as a manager at Food MNC when he realized to handle higher responsibilities and bigger roles he needed more education in the field of management. The PGDM Executive programme at IMT-Ghaziabad provided the right platform to achieve it, he said, noting “We were fortunate to have excellent faculty who guided us well in terms of academics as well as ethics.”

Looking back on his years at IMT, he said “I feel a total transformation in my personality and knowledge level. I have acquired new skills in finance, human resources and marketing.”

Saying he got hands-on experience, Sehgal noted “the time at IMT taught us how to perform in large groups, handle pressure and respect other points of view. It inculcated the spirit of winning and seeking opportunities out of challenges. I also acquired skills to successfully execute the projects while beating time lines.”

The most important skills needed to succeed in his field, said Sehgal are: communication and presentation; the ability to manage a large team and work with them; conflict resolution abilities and good negotiation skills seeking win-win solutions.

To those considering an PGDM Executive programme, he says go for it if you want long-term personal and career growth. The course broadens the way you see things he said and “after the programme I had new confidence about my success in future years. My advice: take the plunge, work hard and you will gain a lot in long term.”

IMT-G, provides you ample of opportunities to pursue your interest, whatever it might be!

You stay with 1000 students around and everything is driven by students- right from hostel to mess to all the activities on the campus. The preparation for the corporate life starts here itself. And you can network at IMT like never before. Ever since IMT G happened in life, there were no limits and no looking back thereafter.

IMT got me more focussed and I happened to establish my own company in entertainment industry called “MindScrewers Entertainment, LLP”. Dilli ARTS Junction (DAJ) being our initial product, an annual arts festival in Delhi. We established a strong team of 30 odd people working from the campus itself and fortunately we got tremendous support from various people in entertainment industry like Imtiaz Ali, late Shri Jagjit Singh, Hariharan, Vipul Shah, JD Majethia, Chetan Bhagat, Rashmi Bansal, Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Kalki, VJ Kim, Tom Alter and a lot of others. Though DAJ is yet to hit you in November 2012, this has been the biggest victory of my life. And it was IMT-G campus that triggered it.

We made a community called MindScrewers too which was distinguished as a community of artists and go-getters. And under the name of MindScrewers, we won all the events of the Marketing Club in the first year including the grand ‘Marketing World Cup’. This was the phase when MindScrewers were acknowledged as the invincible!

Furthermore, under the name of MindScrewers, I and Gaurav Sharma (my partner in film-making) made a lot of movies at IMT. I pursued my interest in movie-reviewing/movie-making without interruption- ceaselessly. We made short films, ad films and films for various competitions. We were approached by a budding entrepreneur during first year and since then we also started making professional ad films for corporate.

Apart from the brand MindScrewers, together in the second year, we built a brand called “Ice Heaven”. It took more than 50 odd people to build this place where we all used to chill and hang out for the whole of second year. The place which would surround us for the rest of our lives, the place which became a hub for every kind of artistic and creative activities in the campus, the place where we had heavenly rides, the place where we came back to LIFE, the place where we indulged in some dangerous but irresistible pastimes and the place where we lived our dreams. Ice Heaven still stays alive & decorated with the JOKER, Lord Shiva and a VOID Temple where we worshipped LIFE!

Writing, reading & politics interest me too. And for all of these, there were a lot of provisions at IMT!

Well, this is just a glimpse of how fertile life has been at IMT. With an unparalleled desire, ambition and an unsatisfied hunger, we move on to the next chapters of our lives, still living on Higher Hopes. Cheers.
